Description

In Amsterdam, everywhere you walk, you will be immersed in influences of the 17th century. Your tour will mainly take place in the beautiful and still authentic Jordaan area. Here you can see the influences of early French immigration and the reason Rembrandt decided to spend his remaining years in this wonderful enclave. Learn the stories of how Dutch food and history intersect, why cod and herring dishes are Holland’s pride and joy, indulge in French influenced pastries, and learn how maritime history has influenced Dutch winter stew. We'll start with traditional homemade pancakes called 'Poffertjes.' Next, you'll sample some of the best Dutch cheeses. You'll visit a local fishmonger and dine on herring and our traditional kibbeling, battered chunks of fish. We'll taste Stamppot, a local favorite. As with all our tours, there's our delicious Secret Dish.
