The Portuguese Synagogue was the biggest synagogue in the world and also the biggest building in Amsterdam during the Dutch Golden Age. It’s well preserved so you can still appreciate its grand interior, which almost hasn't changed since the 17th century. Choose the 4-hour option to also visit the Jewish Historical Museum with skip-the-line tickets. The museum houses 11,000 historical objects and works of art, so there is plenty to see. The themes cover the role of Jewish religion and tradition, the links with Israel, Holocaust and the persecution of Jews, as well as various aspects of the mutual Jewish and Dutch history and culture. Skip-the-line tickets allow you to skip the line at the ticket office but not at the entrance and security checks. Admission is for the permanent collection only. The Portuguese Synagogue is closed on Saturdays and Jewish holidays, but it can be replaced with a visit to the Jewish Historical Museum, Westerkerk, or a similar attraction. The guide will escort you to the cruise dock, but will not go on the cruise. The audio guide is available in Arabic, Cantonese, Chinese, Dutch, English, French, German, Hebrew, Hindi, Italian, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Polish Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Thai and Turkish.
