Just to the south of Amstel Park lies the Riekermolen. Though it does not stand in its original location, the windmill itself dates from 1636. It still spins, but is not a working windmill. Formerly, it was used to drain water from the neighboring land. The picturesque sight provided by this windmill was captured by famed Dutchman Rembrandt van Rijn, who is recognized by a statute close by. Seen easily from the southern part of Amstel Park, this windmill is one of the few that still remains in Amsterdam. It is located close to the Amsterdam RAI, Amsterdam Zuid, and close to the suburb of Amstelveen so rent a bike and go on an adventure to find it.
