392 ReviewsExplore Amsterdam and hear the story of Anne Frank, her move from Germany, the time she was hiding, and her father's life after the war.
In Achterburgwal near Dam Square is a sight you probably won't see in most countries. A Cannabis College. Not a real college, mind you, but close enough. The Cannabis College is a non-profit organization which helps spread objective information and guidelines for safe recreational use of cannabisalong with the many medicinal uses of the cannabis plant.
Established in 1998, the Cannabis College went from humble beginnings to becoming one of the trusted information centres on cannabis around the world.
The world is changing. From rigid laws dictating cannabis use as a criminal activity, authorities all over the world are waking up to the fact that soft drugs are being used everywhere. The campaigns for legalizing cannabis have been fermenting across the globe, with some countries already embracing the pot culture as 'harmless fun'. This is what Cannabis College always aimed for.
Inside the College
Entering the Cannabis College, you will have access to free information about the history and uses of cannabis, along with guided tours of their organic Cannabis garden, where they grow the finest-quality strains. Hemp-growing enthusiasts take note, you might learn something from this tour. The garden tour is free for kids under the age of 12 years.
Coffeeshop Training
The Cannabis College also offers Coffeeshop staff training. The training includes learning about different strains (Indica, Sativa etc.), breeding and hybrids, consumption methods (smoking, ingesting, vapourizing etc.) and the various side-effects of cannabis overuse.
How They Work
The Cannabis College is entirely made up of volunteers. Donations and sponsors are always welcome, of course. The College enthusiastically partakes in the various Cannabis events, festivals and meets that are held quite regularly around Amsterdam.
Opening Times:
Daily - 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
