Dappermarkt
Amsterdam
The Dappermarkt is an enormous outdoor marketplace situated in the eastern part of Amsterdam, in the Dapperstraat district. It's been there since 1910 and not only is it still going strong, in 2007 it was even named among the top ten shopping streets in the world by the National Geographic Magazine. There are almost two hundred stalls lined up one after another, selling everything from fresh produce to second hand iPhones (needless to say choose what you buy wisely). Stalls selling clothing, fresh fruits and vegetables are what you'll find the most as you walk through however make sure you try some of the local cuisine. An eastern streak runs a mile wide through the stalls and the most predominant dish you can get is the Donor Kebab or a mouth watering Indonesian Loempia but there are many other delicacies to be found in this multicultural kaleidoscope of humanity. The Dappermarkt is open during daylight hours, Monday to Saturday, from 9AM to 6PM
